ICSA's Upper School

The Upper School at the International Community School of Abidjan consists of students in grades 6-12. Students in grades 6-10 are acquiring important transitional skills in preparation for the final two years of the program, which is the IB. We follow the framework of the Common Ground Collaborative (CGC), and our teachers guide inquiry that uses the natural curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm of the students as strengths to build mastery of key concepts, while providing a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

Grades 6-10

  • We follow an American curriculum that is based on the academic standards by Project AERO (American Education Reaches Out).
  • Our science courses follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • The Common Ground Collaborative gives us the framework for our inquiry-based approach to learning.
  • French, the official language of Côte d’Ivoire, is taught in all grade levels.
  • English Language Learners (ELL) support is offered through grade 10.

We believe in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.”
