Learning at ICSA

Our Curriculum Overview

Learning and Leading Collaboratively

We believe that the foundation of a healthy community of learners is based on relationships, a child-centered, inquiry-based curriculum, social-emotional support, and a strong focus on service.

By providing opportunities to lead in various situations, our goal is to raise international-minded members of society, who have a sense of responsibility towards others and the environment.

Lower School

The lower school focuses on the development of core skills, including critical, creative and reflective thinking, communication, research, social, physical and personal skills. Content is taught through authentic projects, following the Common Ground Collaborative standards.

Upper School

In upper school, students grades 6-10 are acquiring important transitional skills in preparation for the final two years of the program, which is the IB. We follow the framework of the Common Ground Collaborative (CGC) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

IB Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is the most recognized and highest university/college preparatory framework, while encouraging students to strive toward excellence and to acquire sensitivity toward the local and wider community. ICSA offers the IB Diploma and American high school diplomas.

Learning Support

At ICSA, we believe in inclusive cognitive diversity and holistic development for all children. Our goal is to create learning environments that are accessible and adapted to cater for a variety of needs our students have, from Pre-K to grade 12. We offer general learning support in the classroom as well as acommodations. Additionally, we provide English Language Learner (ELL) services.

Counseling

The Counseling Department at ICSA supports all students through a comprehensive and developmental approach that addresses the four domains outlined by the International Model for School Counseling: academic, personal/social, career and global perspective. The PK-12 counseling program provides support and caring at every level.

Service Learning

ICSA believes that Service Learning plays an essential role in the education of children. Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that connects positive and meaningful action in the community with school work, personal growth, and social responsibility.

Library

The ICSA library is an integral part of the learning program empowering students to adapt and thrive in a changing global environment by exploring, learning, creating, and collaborating. Our community has access to over 17,000 books and materials, as well as 24/7 access to research databases and an extensive eBook collection.
