Learning Support at ICSA

Empowering students through personalized care, specialized strategies, and inclusive learning environments.

Our Mission

At ICSA, we believe in inclusive cognitive diversity and holistic development for all children. Our goal is to create learning environments that are accessible and adapted to cater for a variety of needs our students have, from Pre-K to grade 12. We are guided by data-driven best practices for intervention methods and resource models of instructional support and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to support students with mild to moderate learning challenges.

English Language Learners

English Language Learners

Many of the children enrolled at ICSA come from families where English is used as a second language or where it is not spoken at all. In order to meet the unique needs of these learners, our school offers English Language Learner (ELL) services. The ELL teacher collaborates with teachers of other subjects to facilitate language acquisition. We offer support as students acquire English language skills and develop grade-level academic language.

Lower School Services

Lower School Services

Every teacher and assistant in the Lower School is equipped to differentiate learning to make the curriculum accessible for all students. The application of Tier 1 accommodations and action plans are overseen by learning support teachers. The learning support teachers also direct Student Study Team (SST) collaboration meetings on a regular basis. This collaboration allows all teachers and assistants to identify and respond to individual student needs through targeted interventions.

Upper School Services

Upper School Services

ICSA is equipped to facilitate learning for a wide range of educational needs. All students in the upper school with demonstrated needs receive general Tier 1 accommodations that are designed to make learning more accessible. Additionally, all teachers regularly participate in Student Study Teams (SST) collaborations with the express aim of identifying opportunities and methods for differentiation that will address specific student needs. Multi-tiered levels of support (MTSS) are employed to ensure the success of every student. These interventions may include small group remediation or the application of accommodations or modifications.
