Counseling
The Counseling Department at ICSA supports all students through a comprehensive and developmental approach that addresses the four domains outlined by the International Model for School Counseling: academic, personal/social, career and global perspective. The PK-12 counseling program provides support and caring at every level. Services are provided to support the wellbeing of all students and promote the necessary skills, attitudes, and beliefs to strengthen their unique capabilities and enable them to participate in a community of learners who are striving to embrace an ever-changing world.
Lower School Counseling
The Lower School has one counselor who works with students in grades PreK to 5. The counselor supports students through classroom visits for personal/social education, individual and group counseling, parent presentations/workshops and collaboration with teachers and parents.
Upper School Counseling
The Upper School is supported by two social/emotional counselors— one working with students in grades 6-8, and one working with students in grades 9-12. Upper School Counselors support students through coordination of the advisory program, individual and group counseling, parent presentations/workshops and collaboration with teachers, parents, and outside agencies as needed.
College Counseling
Our high school college counseling program is designed to provide comprehensive support to our students throughout their journey to higher education. We utilize the BridgeU platform, an innovative tool that assists students in the search and application process. Starting from grade 10 through grade 12, our dedicated college counselor conducts regular whole class and one-on-one meetings with each student, ensuring personalized guidance and advice tailored to their individual aspirations and goals. These meetings cover a range of topics, including academic planning, extracurricular involvement, and college selection. Additionally, we organize a variety of virtual and in-person college visits, allowing students to explore campuses and gain firsthand insight into their potential future institutions. Our program aims to empower students with the necessary resources and support to make informed decisions and successfully navigate the college admissions process.
