Thank you for visiting the website of the International Community School of Abidjan.
As a head of school with 25 years’ experience in education, I have to say that the opportunities for ICSA are extremely positive. The amount of green space, the supportive parents, the keen students, finances, and the qualified faculty will basically allow us to move in the direction of world class and regain the reputation ICSA had in the past in the region. Personally, my own personal vision is to make any school I am working with exemplary and there are two reasons for this: 1) becoming an exemplary school is simply a great vision to strive for and who wouldn't want to work at one, and 2) my own kids will be studying here and I want the absolute best for them and by default, for all children!
We are all here for your children and all other reasons, although important, pale in comparison. Whether you are new to the school or have been with us a number of years, I am confident that you will see decision making having everything to do with the student in mind.
Cote d”Ivoire is going through some very nice moments in terms of its stability and economic growth. As a result, attraction to the country has been inevitable. This has resulted in an incredible growth for ICSA and we have more than doubled in the last two years. Those of us who were here with us last year may recall that we ended the year with 380 students. This year, numbers are telling us we will begin the school year in the environs of 430 students - an increase of 80 students overall! There is a real sense of hope and possibility here that one can feel and see in the eyes of our ICSA students and families who come to us from over 30 countries.
ICSA follows an American-style curriculum based on the AERO standards. We are accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) as well as by the Council for International Schools (CIS). With a program that is expanding, we are deep in the planning of offering the International Baccalaureate’s Diplomma Programme (DP) beginning in the 2016-17 school year. Meanwhile, we are strengthening our academic programs as well as our non-academics so that our students not only get an educational experience but a school experience - experiences that will last a lifetime. Our goal throughout, is the student and keeping to our mission which challenges us to educate independent, critical thinking, compassionate, responsible individuals for a purposeful life as global citizens.
I look forward to being part of the growth here at ICSA and I hope you are as excited as we all are here.
